accidental industry fashion show summer 2013

A few weeks ago some friends and I attended the Accidental Industry Fashion Show, which took place at the Fleming building in downtown Des Moines. The AIFS is a semi-annual event created by some talented ladies, two of which are Lacy Brunnette and Lucy Shay. During the previous 2 shows I interned backstage, leading the other interns behind the scenes. It was a great learning experience to get to be backstage. I realized how quickly the show goes, and how hectic it is with models running in and out, helping them dress and undress, making sure they're wearing the right items and that they're styled correctly, etc.etc. I saw a lot of boobs and butts during those 2 shows, but it didn't matter, because that's the name of the game. This year I decided not to work it, though. I wanted to be able to sit in the front row and watch the magic happen. It was a great time and I can't wait until the next show!

vine wednesday

I'm starting this new thing called "Vine Wednesday", where I will post 1 or 2 of my Vine videos every Wednesday. If nothing else, at least it will make me update my blog at least once a week ;)

So, without further ado....

it's an adobe creative suite world

and I'm just living in it (with no way to use it). Can you imagine how hard it is to create something as simple as a blog header with no design software? It's pretty hard. But I did it....kind of. You know what else is hard? Not knowing how to truly customize my layout. CSS is confusing. At one point in my life I was kind of ok at html, and had tons of webpages with in-line tables and pop up pages. But alas, I'm old and my knowledge is gone and I'm bound by the constraints of pre-made layouts.

Also, what's the point of having a graphic designer boyfriend if he doesn't make things for you?? **ahem cough cough** If you guys have any tips/advice on how to make a snazzy layout and header without paying someone to do it, let me know!
