o hai!

Sorry I've been m.i.a. for the past few days, but I've been on a long (but quick) road trip to Charleston. I'll make a real update later, but for now I'll just leave this here.

goodness, gracious, great gatsby

Let's all just take a moment and watch the trailer for Baz Luhrmann's take on the Great Gatsby. Being a big fan of Romeo+Juliet and Moulin Rouge, I'm pretty excited for this film! It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire.

What movies are you all excited for this year? The Dark Knight Returns? Breaking Dawn Part 2? Snow White & the Huntsman? That new Adam Sandler+Andy Samberg movie that I just saw a preview for this morning? Give me your cinematic recommendations!

my week in instagram photos (2)

Sorry everyone, but I've been too busy/lazy to come up with actual blog posts lately :/ So here's another Instagram photo dump to try and keep this blog relevant.

My new old MacBook. The frame is cracked so I stabilized it with those 2 clips. A few minutes after this picture was taken, a bird landed in my lap. It was crazy.

My last day at Global Reach. They got me a cake & a card!

Friday night we built a fire and talked to owls.

I also got some hammock time.

Tara's 21st birthday countdown.

My new $12.99 shoes from Target.

remember postcards?

You know, those things we used to send our loved ones back home when we were on vacation? Although I still enjoy sending them, I feel like they, along with snail mail in general, are dying out. Why send a postcard when you can immediately send a picture of where you are via cell phones and email? Well.....BECAUSE POSTCARDS ARE COOL, OKAY?! And now there's an app that combines your cell phone pictures with a postcard, to create a Postagram! You can access Postagram through any Android or iPhone by downloading the app onto your phone. If you don't have either of those phones, you can even use the website to send cards. You pick a picture, add a message, and voila, Postagram creates and sends it for you! No buying stamps and searching for a mailbox. And it's only 99¢ per card! By sending my first card, I earned 25 credits, which is good for 5 Postagrams. I also earned 1 credit for scanning the QR code at the bottom of the card. There are other ways to earn free credits too, such as inviting friends, or watching the video they have. (If you feel so inclined, you can use my code: http://sincerely.com/u/gqspww to earn us both 5 credits!)

I sent one to myself, just to test it out. They were even nice enough to send me an email (as the sender) telling me when the card was mailed, and then another email telling me it had arrived at the post office of the receiving party and would be delivered in the next day or 2. Pretty swell!

The final product. Coincidentally, taken with Instagram. What if I sent a Postagram of an Instagram pic of a Postagram with an Instagram pic? INCEPTION.

budget update!

This update will be brief, as I need to get ready for work in about 20 minutes (yeah, sometimes it takes me longer than 20 minutes to formulate a semi well-written, witty post).

Well, I pretty much failed. I mean, I stayed within the amounts I set for each of the categories I decided on (except for food, which I went over on), and I even stayed under the amount on some categories (like "other necessities"). I used that fact to justify my disgusting shopping addiction. Oh, I need some toilet paper and dish soap? I'll just go to Target! And then find some dress I need, and a purse that I must have, and travel sized products just because they're small and fit in my purse, and oh, season 6 of The Office is on sale! That's basically what happens. Target is evil! When I was dirt poor, I didn't even look at those sections. I kept my blinders on and went straight to what I needed, and then straight to the check out. This month I have to wrangle in my urges to shop needlessly. I should probably set a budget for that kind of stuff. That being said, yesterday I got my tax return, and immediately bought a purse from Zappos and a plane ticket. The plane ticket was kind of a necessity, but the purse was definitely not. But I guess, sometimes you just gotta treat yo self.
