one does not simply WALK into mordor

Sorry....I'm watching The Fellowship of the Ring right now, because I'm sick and took a day off of work, and that part always makes me laugh. I have been quite a lazy blogger, and for that I'm sorry. But really, does anyone actually read this thing? I haven't been up to much, but I did dye my hair blonde, so that's something.

vintage salvation

Suze & I did some coat modeling for Nikole (owner of Vintage Salvation). Even though it takes me a bit to come out of my shell and really get my "model" on, I had a lot of fun! Hopefully the shots turn out well and she sells a lot of beautiful, great stuff :)

oh, hello

It's been a month since I last posted. Oops! February was kind of a whirlwind. I went to MAGIC Market Week in Las Vegas and also turned 27, but more on that later. I wanted to post some of the unused pictures from the Savior shoot I did. Photography by JeTim Art & Photography .

it's hard being really really ridiculously good looking

Jokes, jokes. I actually don't think I'm all that great looking, tbh. I mean, I don't think I'm a hideous monster or anything, but I've never thought of myself as a beautiful swan. I especially don't think I'm photogenic, and have voiced that opinion many times on here and in real life. Despite all that, my friends asked me to be a part of a photoshoot for a project masterminded by my friend Lucy Shay, and shot by other friends Jen & Tim Mitchard. I haven't seen the photos yet (I get to on Sunday, though, and I'm so excited!), but here's a sneak peek:

you just gotta smize

This past weekend I had the opportunity to be a hair model for the amazing Salon W. It was not something I had planned or sought out (in fact, I was pretty reluctant to do it after I heard there was actually modeling involved), but my coworker/friend convinced me to do it with her. We went straight from work on Friday to the salon, where they worked their hair magic. On Saturday we had to leave work early to get our hair styled, and then we were off to the studio for makeup and the shoot. This was the first time I've ever done any modeling, and I don't think I'm very photogenic, so I was really nervous. I tried to remember everything I've learned from ANTM over the years, but I was so nervous that I think I forgot to smize. I hope they got at least one picture that they can use! Here are some behind the scenes moments:

P.S. So far I've shampooed my hair twice and conditioned it once, but there's still some hairspray and tangles left.

diy ombre? dip dye? something.

My lovely friend Lucy agreed to help me turn my hair from brunette to half-brunette, and this is the outcome! It's not perfect (one side is blonder than the other, but I didn't feel like putting more bleach in, letting it sit, then washing it out. Again. Because I'm lazy.), and it's definitely not dry or styled in either of these pics, so it's yet to be seen how it will look on a daily basis. Actually, I usually wear my hair up because it's in an awkward stage, which is why I wasn't that scared about the dye job looking like crap. If it does, oh well! If it doesn't, then cool, I may actually style my hair on occasion!

My hair stylist friends are probably shaking their heads disapprovingly at me right now...... I'm sorry, friends! I'm poor and this was a cheaper solution to my boredom with my hair! I promise when I make real money I will come to you for all my styling and coloring needs.

Edited to add this photo of it curled:

working for the weekend

Remember when this was a fashion blog? Yeah, me either. That was its original intent, however I rarely wear anything besides sweatpants and leggings, so needless to say, the blog has strayed from the path. But hey, I wore real pants Saturday! I went to work, then for food+drinks at The Continental with Ryan and some work friends, and then to see The Envy Corps at Wooly's. It was the most excitement I've had on a Saturday in awhile! If you hadn't noticed, I'm kind of a homebody. Also, don't mind my terrible modeling skills. Like I said before, I'm not photogenic.

Cardigan: Raygun. Gray tank: American Eagle. Pants: Target. Shoes: Minnetonka.

You can barely see it in the other picture, but this is the bracelet I was wearing. I made it out of strips of t-shirts braided & then sewn together. Got the idea from Pinterest & the ever fashionable Lucy Shay.

I've been searching for the perfect peachy color forever, & I finally found it! Essie's A Crewed Interest & Milani's Gold Glitz.

And last but certainly not least, The Envy Corps!

it's my party & i'll cry if i want to

Well, today's the day I've been dreading for awhile......my birthday. I don't want to mention how old I am, so I'll just share with you a few pictures from my younger days. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Photogenics 101

I just want to take a minute to talk about the art of being photogenic. This is an art that I have personally never mastered. I consider myself an okay looking person, I've even been told once or twice that I should be a model (which I usually attribute to my thin frame and high cheek bones....I'm definitely not tall or quirky looking or exotic or girl next door pretty). But in photos, I'm a wreck. Sometimes I can pull off a nice smile, but most of the time I'm making a weird face, or my eyes are half-closed, or my posture is that of a hunchback, or my smile is too big, showcasing my ginormous gums. What makes me mad is, some people have the ability to look incredibly cute in a picture, even if they're making a face that on normal people would look hideous. I hate those people! Well, I don't hate them, but I'm so so jealous of them. I want to be one of those people who look adorable in candid photos. I want to be one of those girls that their photography friends ask to be in their photo shoots because they're so amazing at looking good. And then I want to use one of those photos as my Facebook profile photo so everyone can "like" it and comment on how great I look. Is that too much to ask?! Here are some examples of my awkwardness:

Tyra would definitely NOT choose me to be America's Next Top Model, that's for sure. Pretty friends, please teach me how to look good in pictures.
